Industrial wipers are used by workers in virtually every department of every industrial facility throughout the U.S. every day. Industries that are heavy users of wipers include manufacturing, food processing, printing, and automotive to name a few. Some common uses for wipers include:
- Cleaning tools and surfaces
- Wiping up small spills
- Preparing surfaces for painting, staining, or printing
- Personal wiping such as drying hands or faces
Today workers have 3 choices of wiping products:
- Rental shop towels provided by an industrial laundry
- Disposable wipers made of non-woven material
SMART and INDA have worked together in proposing to the EPA's Office of Solid Waste several key objectives for this rule. These include:
- Creation of a coherent, common sense national policy that companies of all size may comply.
